It might not be the right place to post this kind of issues but it's my first time asking a question on a forum I've always used google or figured out things by myself. I'm currently using Gnu/Linux as the default system for almost 4 years now and I've never had a problem but lately i had this webcam and it doesn't work properly.!!

Which forces me to use Win-f.-dows (sorry) to connect with my friends on skype. I hate to say it!! I've done some research and found that. I need a GSPCA module so i need to remove the installed one first then recompiling it into my kernel.

I need to modify/patch the module (there's no sub-driver for my webcam but another one works from what I've read) My question is how can i do this?? Basically i want to patch the sub-driver and let my kernel recognize it as the sub driver to my webcam.

My kernel 3.11.0-12-generic GNU/Linux The webcam Genius Slim 311R (0458:704b KYE Systems Corp. (Mouse Systems)) The compatible webcam GSPCA sub-driver is sn9c20x.

I understood that the gspca module was part of the kernel sources. This is the case for 99% of all Linux modules. I tried that file but i had some errors while compiling:/ The file is very outdated i need to update it! There's also the official dmg file (Mac driver) of the device and apparently it works on Linux too. Lol i had exams this last month so i gave up i just used Windows but now i hat using it just for a webcam.

For a 1kb file I NEED TO FIX THIS even if it means that i'm going to learn the whole goddamn drivers-programming and leanr about all the related libraries! And i won't buy a new webcam!!:D.
